The efforts of the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) for 2023 aim at upgrading the tourist product of Larnaca, as well as highlighting the region’s comparative advantages and special forms of tourism.
This multifaceted project involved actions supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with local authorities and entities comprising ETAP.
The company announced that, in the coming days, the prototype Coastal Park of Calisthenics will be ready at Kastella Beach in Mackenzie, where specialized equipment for adults and children has been installed.
The Coastal Park, set to be the largest of its kind in Cyprus, targets enthusiasts of calisthenics techniques used in ancient Greece.
The goal is to attract both local and foreign visitors, considering the rapid development of calisthenics globally, gaining numerous passionate supporters in recent years.
Moreover, within the framework of the “Enriching and Greening the Beaches of Larnaca” program, a beach soccer field has been created in Oroklini, outdoor fitness equipment has been placed in Pyla Beach and a coastal area in Livadia, and projects for safe accessibility for people with disabilities have been implemented at Yanades Beach.
Additionally, amphorae were placed at the Elpida shipwreck to enrich the Larnaca Marine Protected Area, while numerous palm trees were planted on the Oroklini Beach and the kite-surfing beach in Kiti.
To strengthen the identity of the communities, ETAP Larnaca funded the creation of three apiaries in Omodos, Melini, and Ora, the redevelopment of the traditional spring in Lefkara, and the establishment of Instagrammable spots in Agios Theodoros and Aradippou.
Simultaneously, the award-winning digitalization program of Larnaca’s tourism tools continues. Notably, a puzzle-like map for navigating the talking statues of Larnaca (Larnaka Storytelling Statues) has been created, and three additional museums have been added to the Larnaka Virtual Museums platform.
These include the Folk Art Museum in Kato Drys, the Ecclesiastical Museum of Art, and the new Kostas Argyrou Museum in Mazotos.
