The first Cypriot citizen has been evacuated safely from Sudan, Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos said on Tuesday.
The citizen flew out of the embattled country to Aqaba, Jordan on a Dutch aircraft, Kombos said.
In a post on Twitter, the Foreign Minister thanked his Dutch counterpart, Wopke Hoekstra, “for his country’s assistance.”

Rival factions in Sudan have agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire while Western, Arab and Asian nations raced to extract their citizens from the country.
Fighting erupted between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group on April 15 and has killed at least 427 people, knocked out hospitals and other services, and turned residential areas into war zones.
The two sides have not abided by several previous temporary truce deals.
