Nicosia’s Yalla Collective Space & Café is bringing back its Mimosas before Christmas event on 24 December, combining drinks, live jazz and fundraising for an important environmental cause.
The café opens from midday for drinks and bites, with Windcraft Band taking the stage from 1pm to 3pm to deliver their lively tunes. It’s the second time Yalla has hosted the festive gathering, which has already proved a hit with those seeking a relaxed way to spend Christmas Eve.
But there’s more to the mimosas than just good cheer. All donations collected on the day will go to BirdLife Cyprus to fund their legal battle for the protection of the monk seal sanctuary in Pentakomo.
The Mediterranean monk seal is one of the world’s most endangered marine mammals, with fewer than 700 individuals remaining globally. Cyprus hosts one of the species’ critical habitats at Pentakomo, where conservation efforts face ongoing legal challenges.
The event runs from noon onwards at Yalla Collective Space & Café on 16 Perikleous Street in Nicosia.
