Queer Wave, Cyprus’s LGBTQIA+ Film Festival announced that it will be making its fifth annual appearance in the heart of Nicosia, in yet another iconic space for Cypriot culture.

This year’s Queer Wave will take place 20–29 September 2024, renewing its partnership with NiMAC, which will this time welcome the festival within its exhibition spaces.

Four months from today, Queer Wave will begin its established ten-day lineup of screenings and parallel events, embracing a local and international community of creatives, giving a platform to LGBTQIA+ lived experiences and queer expression.

Updates on this year’s programme and special pre-festival happenings will be communicated via queerwave.com and social media: @queerwavecyprus.

Queer Wave started in 2020. In just four years, the festival has brought local audiences more than 170 Cypriot premieres of LGBTQIA+ films from the international scene, while also supporting the works of filmmakers and other artists from Cyprus.

NiMAC [Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, Associated with the Pierides Foundation] is housed in the renovated building of the Old Powerhouse, located in the historical centre of Nicosia. It is the oldest and largest Contemporary Art Centre on the island.
