With a new type of event making its debut in Cyprus, we spoke with Ivaylo Matev, organiser of Legion Run events worldwide, about what people can expect from the upcoming Legion Inflatable Family Run in Limassol.
What exactly is the Legion Inflatable Family Run and how is it different from the traditional Legion Run?
The Legion Run that many people know is a 5 km obstacle course designed to challenge you physically and mentally. It’s intense, it’s muddy, and it’s unforgettable.
The Legion Inflatable Family Run is a completely different concept. It’s designed to be fun, accessible, and shared. Instead of extreme obstacles, we have large inflatable challenges that people can run, jump, slide and laugh through. It’s not about competition — it’s about the experience.
We created it because we kept hearing the same question from participants: “Can I bring my kids next time?” Now the answer is yes.
Why did you choose Cyprus for this concept?
Cyprus is a perfect market for this type of event. The lifestyle here is very social, very family-oriented, and people are open to new experiences.
Also, distances are short — you can reach Limassol from almost anywhere within an hour. That makes it ideal for a nationwide event.
We’ve organised events in multiple countries, and we see a strong fit here. People in Cyprus don’t just want to watch — they want to participate.

What can participants expect on April 25 at MYMALL Limassol?
They can expect something very different from anything they’ve experienced before.
The course is around 1–1.5 km and includes around 10 large inflatable obstacles. Participants run in waves, and within their time slot they can complete the course multiple times.
But what really makes the difference is the atmosphere. It’s not just a run — it’s a full event experience. Music, food, energy, people cheering — it feels more like a festival than a race.
You’ll see friends competing playfully, parents running with kids, groups laughing their way through obstacles. That’s what makes it special.
Is this event suitable for people who are not physically active?
Absolutely. This is one of the key differences.
You don’t need to be an athlete. You don’t need training. If you can move, you can do it.
Of course, you can challenge yourself and go faster, but the core idea is participation, not performance.
We’ve seen people of all ages enjoy this format — from kids to adults. It’s designed so everyone can take part and feel comfortable.
There is also a charity element involved. Can you tell us more about that?
Yes, and this is something very important for us.
We are partnering with the Little Heroes Foundation. Participants have the option to purchase donation tickets, where €5 goes directly to the foundation, and we match every donation.
So each contribution becomes €10 in support of children and families in need.
We believe events like this should not only bring joy but also create impact.
How strong is the response so far?
The interest has been very strong, especially considering this is the first time we are introducing this concept in Cyprus.
We see a mix of audiences — families, groups of friends, corporate teams. That’s exactly what we want.
Based on our experience, once people understand what this is, the decision becomes easy. It’s something different, something fun, and something you don’t want to miss.
For someone still thinking about it — why should they join?
Because this is one of those experiences you don’t fully understand until you’re there.
You can go out for dinner any weekend. You can go for a normal walk or workout anytime.
But running through giant inflatable obstacles with your friends or your kids, laughing, falling, getting back up — that’s something you remember.
And also, it’s the first time we’re doing this in Cyprus. That always has a special energy.
What’s your personal expectation for the event?
Honestly, I expect people to finish and immediately say: “When is the next one?”
That’s what happens in every country where we bring this concept.
And I think Cyprus will be no different.
