The election battle for the new House of Representatives has highlighted not only the overall distribution of seats but also the rural communities where party loyalties remain particularly strong.

According to official figures from the Interior Ministry’s Election Service, the Democratic Rally (DISY) and AKEL recorded vote shares of more than 60% in specific communities, showing that traditional party ties continue to hold in parts of the countryside despite the broader fragmentation of the vote.

DISY recorded its highest share in Apesia, where it secured 67.9%, with 180 votes out of 265 valid ballots.

In the Paphos district, the party also posted strong results in Droushia, with 65.5% and 173 votes out of 264 valid ballots, and in Ineia, where it received 60.5%, with 153 votes out of 253 valid ballots.

DISY also maintained a strong presence in the Larnaca district. In Agios Theodoros, it received 64.9%, with 248 votes out of 382 valid ballots, while in Anafotia it secured 62.5%, with 35 votes out of 56 valid ballots.

AKEL, meanwhile, maintained high vote shares in communities with strong traditional links to the left.

Its highest result was recorded in Pelendri, in Limassol district, where it received 66.8%, with 286 votes out of 428 valid ballots.

In Prastio Kellakiou, Akel secured 61.3%, receiving 46 votes out of 75 valid ballots.

The party recorded an even larger number of votes in Pervolia, Larnaca district, where it received 65.8%, with 547 votes out of 831 valid ballots.

The results show that, despite the rise of new political formations and shifts in the electoral map, Disy and Akel continue to retain strong local bases in rural Cyprus.
