The Limassol campaign headquarters of ELAM candidate Evgenios Hamboullas was attacked overnight, with unknown persons throwing stones and smashing its glass display, police said.

The incident took place in the early hours near the St Nicholas roundabout. Police were notified on Wednesday morning and are investigating a case of malicious damage.

In a statement, Hamboullas said he was saddened by the attack. “Such actions have no place in a democratic society and are incompatible with the political culture we must all uphold, especially during an election campaign,” he said. “Political debate must be conducted with arguments, respect and composure — not with acts that poison the public atmosphere.”

He called on all sides to preserve mutual respect and seriousness, adding that the country needed democratic values and political maturity rather than extreme behaviour. “No thug and no preson of the night will silence me or ELAM,” he said.
