Christodoulides and Erhürman agree to weekly meetings, UN says

Nikos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhürman have agreed to hold weekly meetings, according to a United Nations statement issued after their talks today, which lasted more than two hours and thirty minutes. The two leaders also agreed to announce the members of the Coordinating Committee of the Civil Society Advisory Council tomorrow.

The UN statement in full:

“The Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides and the Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhüman held a constructive meeting today under United Nations auspices in the United Nations Protected Area.


The two leaders reaffirmed their utmost appreciation to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, HE. Mr. Antonio Guterres, for his recent visit to the island and for his continued support and commitment to the efforts towards a settlement of the Cyprus problem.


During their meeting, they reviewed progress regarding the way forward as defined in the recent visit of the United Nations Secretary-General to the island and agreed to intensify their meetings and to meet once a week and more frequently, as circumstances may require.


They also agreed to announce the members of the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Consultative Body tomorrow.”
