President Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to Barcelona today to attend the inauguration of the Sagrada Família, invited by the Spanish government in his capacity as president of the member state holding the EU Council Presidency.
Heads of state, heads of government and other officials will also attend the ceremony. Pope Leo will celebrate a solemn mass at the Sagrada Família and give the official blessing of the new tower. The inauguration coincides with the centenary of the death of the basilica’s architect and visionary, Antoni Gaudí.
Tomorrow, Christodoulides will attend the exhibition “Picasso and Cyprus: Encounters with the Ceramics of the Mediterranean” at the Picasso Museum, organised as part of the Cyprus EU Council Presidency cultural programme. He will then return to Cyprus.
