There’s real cause for concern in the high proportion of young drivers among road crash victims. Cyprus has long posted grim figures for driver deaths under 24, some of the worst in Europe, according to the police spokesperson.
2026 stands out in particular for the sheer number of motorcyclists among the dead: 14 of the 26 killed were riding two wheels.
“We all need to wake up to the responsibility we carry every time we use the roads,” police say, as this year’s toll of 27 dead thrusts road safety in Cyprus back into the spotlight, hard.
