Police arrested seven young people aged 16 to 19 in Agios Athanasios on Friday night, after a report that a group of youths was causing a nuisance and allegedly harassing food delivery riders passing through the area. All seven were charged in writing with causing malicious damage and released, to be summoned to court.
Officers sent to Anoikodomiseos Street stopped two cars carrying seven people. A 16-year-old was driving the first car, with two passengers of the same age. A 19-year-old was driving the second, with three passengers aged 17. Police had earlier seen them spray-painting slogans on advertising billboards.
A search found 12 cans of spray paint and a wooden bat.
The 16-year-old was also charged with driving without a licence, without insurance and without the owner’s consent, in a car that had been declared off the road. The 19-year-old was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, after the bat was found in his car.
Germasogeia police and Limassol traffic police are continuing their investigation.
