Serbian business tycoon Miroslav Misković has retained his Cypriot citizenship following a reversal of a 2021 decision by the Cypriot Council of Ministers.
Misković, owner of Delta Holding and once listed among the world’s wealthiest individuals by Forbes, had faced citizenship revocation due to a tax evasion conviction in Serbia.
However, the Belgrade Court of Appeal’s decision to overturn this conviction led to a re-examination of his case.
Misković’s net worth was estimated at €2.8 billion in recent years, with his business interests spanning trade, real estate, automotive sales, and agriculture.
The initial move to revoke Misković’s citizenship in October 2021 followed recommendations from the Inquiry Committee on Exceptional Naturalisation, prompted by his 2019 Serbian court conviction. Misković and his family challenged this decision in January 2022.
The Independent Citizenship Revocation Examination Committee recommended the reinstatement of Misković’s citizenship last September, a stance supported by the Council of Ministers in September 2024.
