A fire started in a Nicosia betting shop late on Monday, marking the second such incident in the capital within 48 hours, authorities said.

Police received a report shortly after midnight of a blaze on Louki Akrita Street, where firefighters promptly arrived to extinguish the flames. Initial investigations suggest the fire may have been deliberately set.

The fire caused damage to an external room used as a smoking area, adjacent to the main betting shop. The scene was cordoned off, with further investigations expected at daybreak.

This incident follows another fire reported in the early hours of Monday morning at a betting shop located in the Kaïmakli area of Nicosia.
