Investigation into the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos is advancing with police inquiries underway.

In a bid to gather information, authorities recently unveiled images of the two alleged perpetrators involved in the crime, urging the public to come forward with any sightings or relevant tips.

The movements of these two alleged executioners were captured by CCTV stationed at a point along the highway. According to police, the motorcycle’s trajectory indicates an eastward direction, seemingly headed towards Nicosia.

Lefteris Kyriakou, the head of Limassol CID, said that a substantial volume of CCTV footage has been collected, covering a wider area than the crime scenes. Analyses at the crime scene and the routes taken by the assailants yielded material from various closed-circuit cameras in the vicinity.

Consequently, after evaluation, the identities of the two suspects, who fled the scene subsequent to setting the motorcycle ablaze, were ascertained. Their images were subsequently publicised in a concerted effort to elicit information leading to the perpetrators.

“Following the dissemination of these images, we received several pieces of information, all of which we’ve rigorously assessed. However, as of now, no substantial leads have surfaced, and our investigative efforts persist,” Kyriakou highlighted.

When asked about the route taken by the assailants, Kyriakou underlined that the investigations are being conducted several kilometres away from the site where the vehicle was found burnt.

Thanasis Kalogeropoulos, 54, was gunned down and murdered in broad daylight near a popular beach in central Limassol.

He had been struck by 10 bullets a post-mortem showed on Tuesday after police said they were worried about more bloodshed.
