A police officer in Limassol was arrested by his own colleagues on Thursday, accused of stealing a scooter that had been seized as evidence.
The scooter had been impounded in a separate case, after police intercepted its rider, who then escaped. It was being held as evidence when the officer allegedly loaded it into his personal vehicle, according to reports.
He reportedly admitted to the theft on the spot and was arrested.
The case is under investigation and is expected to go before the courts, while the officer is expected to be suspended from duty.
