A 78-year-old man suffered burns in a fire at a Nicosia flat on Sunday evening, with fire stations responding at 21:40 with four fire engines.
The blaze broke out in a small flat on the first floor of a three-storey apartment building in Nicosia. The flat suffered extensive damage, whilst the second floor sustained smoke damage after a window pane broke and smoke transferred upwards.
The 78-year-old tenant of the flat exited with burns and, after receiving first aid, was handed over to an ambulance for hospital transfer.
The apartment building was being renovated to create student accommodation, and the burn victim was the only tenant inside the building.
