Despite intense investigations for the second consecutive day in connection with the placement of an explosive device at the residence of a 58-year-old official from the Legal Service in Paphos, substantive progress in the investigations remains elusive.
Despite dozens of detentions carried out at the Paphos Police Headquarters, no evidence linking anyone to the case has emerged.
Additionally, examinations of the area’s closed-circuit systems have not yielded actionable information for the prosecuting authorities.
Nevertheless, investigations persist at an unabated pace, primarily focusing on the professional sphere of the 58-year-old. Other possibilities, however, have not been ruled out.
Simultaneously, evidence and other materials discovered at the crime scene have already been sent for scientific examination at the laboratory, while the scene was reexamined yesterday by the Police Pyrotechnics Department of the Police Headquarters and members of the Crime Investigations Service. New pieces of evidence were collected.
Of particular significance, according to investigators’ assessments, is the fact that the detonated device was improvised and contained a high-powered explosive substance.
This indicates that the perpetrators were not amateurs or novices in such actions, underscoring the seriousness of the incident. The police authorities emphasize the need to attribute importance to this crucial detail as the investigation unfolds.
