A strong earthquake struck Cyprus moments ago, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) initially estimated the tremor’s intensity between 5.3 and 5.9 on the Richter scale, but revised its assessment to 5.3 minutes later.
Earlier estimates had put the earthquake at 5.6 magnitude.

The tremor occurred moments ago, adding to the seismic activity that began earlier today when a 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook the island at around 11:30am.
