A low pressure system is pushing unsettled weather across Cyprus, bringing elevated dust concentrations, isolated rain and gusty winds that are expected to persist through the weekend and into Monday, the Met Office said.

Dust will remain in the atmosphere until Sunday, with concentrations periodically high. Today will be partly cloudy with mid- and high-level cloud, and isolated showers are possible, some accompanied by thunder.

Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast at moderate to strong force, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort and locally up to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be moderate to rough, and locally rough.

Temperatures will reach 25 degrees Celsius inland, around 24 degrees on the coast and 18 degrees in the higher mountain areas.

Saturday will bring partly cloudy skies with local rain and isolated storms. On Sunday, conditions will become gradually mainly cloudy, with local rain and isolated storms expected after midday, particularly over the mountains and the eastern half of the island.

Monday will see locally increased cloud building mainly in the afternoon, bringing isolated rain or storms, chiefly over the mountains and the southern and southeastern coast.

Temperatures will fall noticeably on Saturday, dropping below seasonal averages. No significant change is expected on Sunday or Monday.
