A 19-year-old man was arrested at Larnaca airport on Friday morning after about 28 kilos of cannabis was found in his luggage.
He had flown in from Thailand via Dubai, a police source told philenews. Acting on information, customs officers working with the Anti-Drugs Unit (YKAN) stopped him for a check and found 26 packages containing about 28 kilos of cannabis in two of his suitcases.
The suspect, who holds a British passport, is due to appear before Larnaca District Court on Saturday for a remand order.
YKAN is trying to trace the people in Cyprus the drugs were intended for, and Interpol is expected to be informed.
