A family in Geroskipou is appealing for witnesses after their nine-year-old cat was found shot, with several pellets lodged in his head, and has lost his sight.
The cat, Pitsis, went missing recently and the family searched for him for eight days before finding him, they said in a post. They believe he was most likely shot on the evening of October 3 on Kallimachou Street in Geroskipou.
Pitsis is now fighting to recover, and the vet has given the family faint hope that he may regain sight in at least one eye, they said.
According to the family, Pitsis used to wait eagerly every afternoon for them to come home after the day’s work.
They are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to contact them online. They are seeking justice for every defenceless creature that has no voice, not revenge, they said.
Animals feel love, pain and fear, the family said, asking what kind of person could aim a gun at a defenceless animal that had done no harm to anyone and shoot it in cold blood.
