Tensions flared in the buffer zone near Deryneia since the morning when UN peacekeepers prevented Greek Cypriot farmers from accessing agricultural land in the Kaminia area.
The incident occurred when a group of farmers attempted to assist a colleague in cultivating his field.
UN peacekeeping forces (UNFICYP) blocked their access, citing security concerns, leading to a confrontation at the site.
Video footage obtained by philenews shows farmers attempting to approach the area with tractors, but being prevented by UNFICYP vehicles.
The farmers have condemned UNFICYP’s stance, describing as “unacceptable” the prevention of access to agricultural land, according to local media reports.
