Temperatures are expected to drop midweek as storm systems approach the island, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Tuesday morning will see moderate to high cloud cover initially, quickly giving way to mostly clear conditions. Cloud coverage will increase again by the afternoon, particularly in western regions.

Winds will blow from southwest to northwest, starting as light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening to moderate or strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. Exposed coastal areas may experience periods of stronger winds reaching 5 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight to moderate.

Temperatures will reach approximately 26°C inland, 23°C in coastal areas, and 15°C in higher mountain regions.

Wednesday will bring predominantly cloudy conditions with localised rainfall and possible isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains as a strong to very strong southwesterly to northwesterly wind system moves across the region.

Thursday and Friday will see periodic increased cloud formations potentially delivering isolated rainfall. Snow or sleet remains possible on Troodos mountain peaks as the island experiences an enhanced northerly wind system on Thursday that will weaken by Friday.

Temperatures are expected to drop noticeably on Wednesday, fall further on Thursday, and remain below seasonal averages through Friday.
