Police launched an investigation on Tuesday after 215 schools received threatening emails, prompting immediate security protocols and searches across the education system.

The Ministry of Education said it initiated emergency protocols immediately after schools across all education levels received the threatening messages early Tuesday morning, working in close coordination with police authorities.

In Paphos district, where 45 of the affected schools are located, including kindergartens, primary schools, and high schools, police searches concluded the threats were hoaxes.

The Theoskepasti Special School in Paphos was among the first institutions to receive the threatening email.

Police investigations continue in other districts across the island, authorities said. The incident has affected schools at all educational levels, from kindergartens to secondary education.

Students, teachers, and their escorts were evacuated from the affected facilities while police conducted thorough searches of the premises.

Police have traced the messages to Russian IP addresses known for targeting European educational institutions.
