Protesters gathered in Nicosia’s Eleftheria Square on Saturday demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and calling on the Cypriot government to cut military, political and economic ties with Israel.

The peaceful demonstration, organised by activist group United for Palestine (UfP), called for unrestricted humanitarian aid access to Palestinians and condemned what organisers described as calls for forced displacement in Gaza.

Demonstrators carried banners in Greek and English demanding the release of Palestinian doctors and aid workers detained by Israeli forces, according to the organisers.

The protesters also condemned recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Palestinian displacement from Gaza and called for an end to settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
