Armed robber threatens elderly couple at knifepoint in rural Cyprus

Relevant News

An armed man pushed an elderly couple to the ground and robbed them at knifepoint in their isolated Aradippou home on Tuesday afternoon.

The attacker knocked on the door of the prefabricated house in a remote rural area around 5:30pm, according to police. When the couple—aged 73 and 66—opened the door, he brandished a knife and shoved them, sending both pensioners to the ground.

He then struck the 73-year-old husband on the chest before snatching two mobile phones, credit cards and approximately €100 in cash.

Neither victim suffered injuries, though both went to Larnaca General Hospital as a precaution and were discharged after examination. Police later found the stolen phones near the house.

Investigators believe the robber took the phones to stop the couple alerting anyone whilst he escaped.

The victims gave police a description of their attacker. Aradippou Police Station is appealing for witnesses and investigating the case as an armed robbery.
