The Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus will host the annual Contact Committee Meeting of European Union (EU) Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) on October 16-17, focusing on migration issues.
The two-day event, to be held at the Cap St. Georges Hotel & Resort in Paphos, will bring together heads of SAIs from EU member states and the European Court of Auditors.
On the first day, senior officials from the European Commission, Cyprus’s Deputy Ministry for Migration and International Protection, the UN Refugee Agency’s Liaison Office to the EU Agency for Asylum, and the International Organisation for Migration will address EU migration policy and its reform needs.
Speakers will explore challenges faced by Cyprus in implementing EU policies, as well as the humanitarian aspects of migration as outlined in international conventions.
The discussion will also cover the link between migration and the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The second day will feature working groups examining how SAIs can incorporate migration challenges into their audits and identify potential opportunities arising from effective migration management.
