The evacuation order for the Akrotiri municipal district will remain in force until Friday, March 6, when authorities will reassess the situation, the Ministry of Interior said.
Residents of Timi, Anarita and Mandria, as well as those of Ormideia, Xylofagou and Xylotymvou, have been notified as a precautionary measure through messages sent by local authorities in cooperation with the Civil Defence Force, advising them of designated temporary shelter points in the event that evacuation is ordered.
Authorities have also been in contact with the community leader of Pyla to keep residents informed.
Civil Defence teams continue to patrol the Akrotiri area and are in contact with residents who have left their homes to provide assistance and guidance, according to the Ministry.
