30 degree peak Monday, afternoon showers expected

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday afternoon, mainly in the mountains, inland areas and the north, as cloud builds at times, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Temperatures will reach around 30C inland, 27C on the coast and 18C on the highest peaks.

Winds will start at 3 Beaufort, before turning south-westerly to north-westerly and picking up to light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight.

On Monday night, cloud on the coast could bring isolated showers. Winds will be light north-westerly to north-easterly, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea calm to slight.

Cloud will build at times on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing isolated afternoon showers or a thunderstorm, mainly in the mountains and inland. Thursday will be mostly fine, though cloud will build over the mountains.

Temperatures will rise slightly over the three days, to around seasonal averages.
