The Israeli military has ordered residents of more than 20 additional towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately, according to Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee in a post on social media platform X.
This development comes as tensions escalate along the Israel-Lebanon border. A Lebanese security source told Reuters today that three people were injured in an Israeli strike on rescue workers linked to Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite movement.
Earlier, Lebanese authorities reported that an Israeli military strike in the eastern part of the country, near the Lebanon-Syria border, had blocked a road used by hundreds of thousands of people trying to flee Israeli bombardments.
On Thursday, an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson accused Hezbollah of using the border crossing to transport military equipment from Syria to Lebanon.
“The IDF will not allow the smuggling of these weapons and will not hesitate to act if forced to, as they have done throughout this war,” the spokesperson stated.
