Hezbollah leader Nasrallah reportedly targeted in Israeli air strike

Israel launched a major airstrike on Hezbollah’s main military headquarters in southern Beirut on Friday, the Guardian reported.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed the strike, stating that the target was a Hezbollah command centre “built under residential buildings in Beirut in order to use them as human shields”.

Unconfirmed Israeli media reports suggested that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah may have been present during the attack, potentially using bunker-buster bombs. The Guardian could not independently verify these claims, and Nasrallah’s fate remains unclear.

The strike, the largest on Beirut since hostilities began, caused extensive damage. Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV reported that four buildings were destroyed. Eyewitnesses described collapsed structures, fires, and widespread debris across the affected area.

This attack marks the fifth Israeli strike on Beirut in a week, part of an intensified campaign that has reportedly targeted over 2,000 Hezbollah positions across Lebanon.

Israeli officials claim these operations have resulted in at least 700 casualties and more than 1,835 injuries.
