Regional police commander Daniel Hadad said that there are currently seven people missing at the scene of the missile strike in Bat Yam, outside Tel Aviv.
Hadad told reporters that so far, the death toll at the scene is currently at six, including two children, with 180 people wounded.
More than 60 buildings were damaged by the missile attack.
“Our main effort at the moment is to find the missing and to coordinate between reports of those who are missing,” Hadad noted, adding that police are setting up a hotline for the public.
The public should dial 105 if they have concerns about missing people or a dangerous situation.
“There is great destruction here, lots of rubble and debris that has to be lifted to find the missing,” Hadad said, adding that several buildings were damaged by a missile with a very large warhead.
“This could take days,” he stressed, noting that local authorities were also working to help the hundreds of people who have been made homeless.
The death toll following two days of Iranian reprisals is at least 14 dead, including three children, in Tel Aviv, Barat Gan, Rishon Letzion, Tafra, Haifa and Bat Yam.
