The Attorney General’s Office has blocked parties’ intention to postpone approval of tax reform legislation until 2026, instead of this December as the government wants.
During today’s discussion of the bills at the parliamentary Finance Committee, MPs asked whether the reform could be approved in early 2026 but take effect from 1 January. The Law Office representative responded negatively.
She said this would have legal complications. Given this, parliament will have to fast-track the process to approve the legislation before year’s end, even though the required work is substantial and the time available very limited.
