Negotiations over the ongoing ready-mix concrete sector strike reached another impasse today during a meeting between social partners and the Labour Minister, prompting strikers to hold an island-wide general assembly in Limassol.
Workers and union officials are planning to stage a protest march through Limassol’s streets following the failed talks.
The Labour Minister stated that a significant gap remains between employers’ positions – outlined in a mediation proposal rejected by unions – and union demands, with workers reverting to their initial positions.
The minister indicated that further communication with stakeholders would take place this afternoon in another attempt to bridge differences, though a breakthrough appears unlikely.
The Labour Ministry emphasised it has developed a strategy to manage the situation and will take appropriate decisions based on developments.

The joint strike general assembly, attended by workers from all districts, commenced at 11:00 at the PEO union building in Limassol.
