President Christodoulides will deliver the keynote address at the third Capital Link Cyprus Business Forum in New York on Friday, as the country seeks to attract international investors.
The event, to be held at the Metropolitan Club, aims to promote Cyprus as a business and investment destination.
Multiple senior government officials will join the president, including Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Giorgos Papanastasiou, Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nikodemos Damianou, and Deputy Minister for Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli.
The forum, organised in collaboration with the Cyprus Shipowners Association and supported by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and Invest Cyprus, comes as the country has received recent credit rating upgrades, which officials say signals stability to the international business community.
“Cyprus’s strategic location, favourable business climate, access to international markets, and emerging industries have established it as an important hub for financial services, energy, logistics, shipping, and technology,” a statement from organisers noted.
The event will specifically highlight Cyprus’s role in regional energy developments and financial markets, while emphasising the country’s competitive advantages in the maritime sector, including its “strong, flexible and effective shipping cluster with growing shipowning and ship management communities.”
Forum discussions will cover key topics including security and stability, energy, cybersecurity technology, banking and finance, and shipping. Both government officials and private sector representatives will participate in these sessions.
As part of the forum activities, Safe Bulkers, a New York Stock Exchange-listed company, will host a reception and special ceremony at the exchange honouring Cypriot businessman Polys Hajioannou, Chairman and CEO of Safe Bulkers, Inc., with President Christodoulides in attendance.
The president will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange, an event that will be broadcast live to an estimated global audience of 150 million viewers.
