They put their own lives on the line to save everyone aboard those boats during Saturday’s ferocious storm. The Police and JRCC crews who ran that flawless search and rescue operation deserve nothing less than boundless respect.
Witnesses in the area spoke of winds gusting at force 9 to 10. Just imagine what it takes for rescuers to hover metres above a raging sea and pull people out of it.
Sadly, the incident still claimed one life. But without these crews, the toll could have been far higher.
