A truck and a saloon car collided on the Nicosia–Larnaca highway near Pera Chorio, closing lanes and disrupting traffic in both directions, police said.
Both lanes heading toward Larnaca have been closed, with traffic being diverted via the Alambra exit. Heavy congestion is also building in the opposite direction, from Larnaca toward Nicosia, and police are urging drivers heading toward Nicosia to use alternative routes.
Two people were slightly injured in the collision. The right-hand lane in both directions had initially been closed as a result of the crash.
Traffic police are at the scene to manage and ease the flow of traffic. Police are urging drivers to be especially careful, reduce their speed, and follow the instructions of officers on duty.
