Paphos elects its first-ever woman MP as Nicoletta Konstantinou wins DISY seat

Paphos has elected its first woman MP in its history, with DISY candidate Nicoletta Konstantinou winning a seat in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Konstantinou received 3,608 votes, finishing second on the DISY ticket behind Charalambos Pazaros, who topped the Paphos ballot with 4,609 votes. AKEL’s Valentinos Fakontis won 3,943 votes and DIKO’s Chrysanthos Savvides secured 4,832 votes.

Who is Nicoletta Konstantinou?

Konstantinou was born in Paphos on February 28, 1986. She holds a law degree from City University London and an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law from University College London, and completed the Legal Practice Course at the Inns of Court School of Law in 2008. Since September 2024 she has been a PhD candidate in the Law Department at the University of Cyprus.

She works as a lawyer and teaches at the Neapolis University Paphos Law School. A member of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2009, she is also an accredited mediator in civil, commercial and family disputes and an approved arbitrator.

Konstantinou’s political involvement stretches back to her school years, continuing through MAKI, Protoporia UK, NEDISY, ONE and DISY. Since November 2024 she has held the Immigration portfolio in the Government Work Monitoring Council and is a member of DISY’s expanded Political Bureau.

She is the daughter of Kostakis Konstantinou, a long-serving DISY MP for Paphos.
