From gallery openings and theatrical premieres to film festivals and academic conferences, there is plenty to see and do across Cyprus this weekend. Here is our pick of what’s on.

Visual art

Nicosia, Isnotgallery. The group exhibition “Contemporary Art Under Pressure” is an evolving institutional show whose title shifts in direct response to the sociopolitical conditions shaping daily life globally. Nicosia, Marginalia gallery (99657080). The concept of flow and constant change takes centre stage in the new solo exhibition by Cypriot artist Rhea Bailey, presented under the title “Cycles – Everything Flows.” Opening tonight at 7pm. Until 30 May (Tuesday–Friday 10am–1pm and 5–8pm, Saturday 10.30am–1pm).

Limassol, The Edit Gallery (25 51710). Yeti’s first solo exhibition at The Edit Gallery, titled “The Greatest Nation Ever,” opens a multilayered visual field in which the concept of “nation” shifts from geography to imagination. Lecture

Strovolos, Strovolos Municipal Hall events room, 7pm. Historian and researcher Nasa Patapios sheds light on little-known aspects of old Nicosia before the construction of the Venetian fortifications, in a lecture titled “The Western Extramural Area of Medieval Nicosia.” The lecture is held as part of the 12th Pediaios Sustainability Festival. Film festivals

Nicosia, ARTos House. The Film Festival on Diversity (FFD) returns for its fifth year, running from 8 to 15 May with screenings and events at various venues across Nicosia and Larnaca. Tonight’s opening ceremony begins at 7.30pm and will be inaugurated by the Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Konstantinos Kollias, with a welcome address by Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos at 7.45pm. Limassol, Synergeiο cultural space / Nicosia, Kafeneio Prozak, 8–10 May 2026. The Independent Palestinian Film Festival returns for its third year. The programme includes recent Palestinian productions focusing on memory, resilience and daily life under pressure, among them the feature-length documentary “Yalla Parkour,” short films “Upshot” by Maha Haj and “Gaza Bride 17” by Wassim Khair, and “All That’s Left of You” by Sherien Dabis, which drew strong audiences at the recent Cyprus Film Days 2026. Theatre

Limassol, Xydadiko, Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, 8pm (96832843). The MITOS Centre for Performing Arts presents “soul under construction,” a new theatrical performance from its theYard.Residency.26 artistic programme, turning its gaze on contemporary Limassol and the city’s transformations. Directed by Loukas Stavrou, with texts co-created by Angela Stavrou, Roz and Stavrou himself. Video and projections by Artemis Evlogimenos. Performed by Angela Stavrou and Roz.

Limassol, Pattichion Municipal Theatre, 8 May, 6pm and 8.30pm. The acclaimed production “12 Angry Men,” directed by Konstantina Nikolaidi, comes to Cyprus after 11 consecutive sold-out years in Athens, transforming the stage into a courtroom and the audience into silent witnesses of a moral conflict. Nicosia, Anemona Theatre (Latsia). The comedy “Two and a Half Murders and a Bulldog!” by Michalis Reppas and Thanasis Papathanasiou, directed by Marinos Xenophontos. Conference

Nicosia, Severios Library, 7–8 May 2026. The conference “Reading and Writing In and Between Languages: The Dynamics of Multilingual Literary Creation,” organised by the Centre for Literary and Cultural Studies in collaboration with the Jagiellonian University, brings leading researchers from across Europe to Cyprus. Sessions examine the work of writers including Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, Alexander Pushkin, Czesław Miłosz and Dionysios Solomos. docs.google.com/forms

European Capital of Culture

Larnaca, Agios Lazaros Monitorial School Hall, 6–8 May. The 16th conference of the Culture Next Network, held in Cyprus for the first time and organised by Larnaka 2030, brings together representatives from across the European cultural scene.
