The Justice and Public Order minister has made clear he will not be allowing any lane or road closures by a group of livestock farmers who continue to protest animal foot and mouth culling, demanding other ways of managing the breakout.
Costas Fytiris will be taking part at a meeting of competent authorities this evening at-the Larnaca police precinct, including Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis, finalising coordination on tomorrow’s measures.
Fytiris will be briefed by officers on instructions pertinent to preventing traffic disruptions.
The protest will be held at 11 tomorrow meeting, with police saying they ‘will remain in the area for the duration in order to secure public order and facilitate traffic, always respecting the right to protest’.
It makes clear that no lane or network closures will be allowed and organisers have been made aware of this intention.
