The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is warning consumers about new incidents involving misleading electronic messages (emails) sent to unsuspecting customers.
According to a statement, these messages falsely claim that the recipient’s bill is now available electronically and urge consumers to make a payment via a malicious link.

The EAC further clarifies that these messages do not originate from the Authority and constitute an attempt at electronic fraud (phishing).
The EAC appeals to the public to exercise extreme caution with emails that include links or attachments, as these may redirect users to misleading or malicious websites, regardless of what the sender initially appears to be.
