Limassol CID (Criminal Investigation Department) investigators continue their inquiries and examinations into the death of a 30-year-old Nigerian woman found dead in a Germasogeia apartment on Sunday morning, with the possibility of a criminal act not being ruled out.
Detectives await the initial findings from the autopsy conducted by state pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou. At the same time, police are taking statements from the three flatmates, all Nigerian nationals, who lived with the victim in the same apartment.
According to Philenews, investigators possess testimony from neighbours who reported hearing shouting from the four women’s apartment early Sunday morning. Information also suggests the four women were socialising at a local bar and returned to the flat around 5 AM.
The four women reportedly lived in the apartment for the past four days. Authorities are also investigating their residency status in Cyprus, specifically whether they were in the country as tourists.
The 30-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face, a fact which steers the investigation toward the possibility of a criminal act. Limassol CID members immediately rushed to the scene to take statements and examine the area for evidence collection.
Lefteris Kyriakou, Assistant Police Director and Press Spokesperson for the Limassol Police Directorate, commented, “Around 11 AM, the Ambulance Service informed us that they had received a call and visited an apartment in the Potamós Germasógeias area, where they found a woman, aged about 30, unconscious and confirmed dead.” He noted that the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman required investigation; senior officers and members of the Limassol CID, along with other patrols, immediately arrived at the scene, stating that they were not ruling out any possibility. The Assistant Chief of Crime Prevention and Suppression and the Limassol Police Director also went to the scene. Kyriakou stressed that the state pathologists are carrying out examinations and expect to provide more details regarding the cause of death.
