For the second consecutive year, the Wine Festival has broken records. With more than 40,000 visitors, this year’s event proved more successful than ever, filling Limassol Municipal Garden with smiles, music, traditional flavours and, naturally, abundant Cypriot wine.

This year’s festival celebrated its 64 years of life with impressive events for people of all ages. According to Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis, approximately 40,000 tickets were sold, whilst free entry for children up to 12 years old significantly helped family attendance.

Mayor praises responsible and civilised behaviour of visitors

“The level of events was excellent, but most important was the responsible and civilised behaviour of people. When a family can visit the Wine Festival safely, enjoy local flavours at affordable prices, and be entertained by quality concerts and traditional events, then we are talking about a festival with substance and character,” the mayor told Philenews.

This year’s festival success was also built on a series of innovations. New themed pavilions, events for the whole family, and an enriched artistic programme kept visitor interest undiminished throughout the event.

Festival serves 1.5 tonnes of bulk wine in commemorative bottles

Regarding wine consumption, approximately 1.5 tonnes of bulk wine were distributed, offered in commemorative bottles at a purchase cost of €1.50.

Regarding the municipality’s revenue, as the mayor stated, it was also particularly significant, confirming the event’s success not only on a cultural but also on an economic level.

Free entry for children under 12 boosts family attendance

“Our goal is to maintain the popular character of the Wine Festival whilst at the same time evolving it year by year so that it remains alive, relevant and beloved by all generations,” Armeftis added.
