American specialists will decide what responsibilities exist for the deadly Limassol wildfire and what measures should be taken, President Nikos Christodoulides announced.
The President made the announcement in a written statement accompanying the publication of reports from competent services on the fatal fire, which were submitted last Friday.
Christodoulides confirmed that a 10-member team of experts will arrive in Cyprus for this purpose.
The full text of the President’s written statement reads: “Fulfilling the promise I gave to the Cypriot people, and in the framework of transparency and accountability, the reports submitted to me by the competent Services regarding the catastrophic fire in Limassol province are being made public.
“Through a relevant request to the US Government, I sought the assistance of competent American Authorities for investigation and evaluation of the management of recent fires.
“The American Government responded to my request and is immediately sending to Cyprus, in a first phase, a ten-member team of experts, with specialisation and experience in investigating similar disasters in the US and internationally.
“After the completion of their mission, they will submit a relevant report to me”.
