Police are investigating a case of a nine-month-old baby who died after being left forgotten in her mother’s car outside a nursery on Friday.
According to information from Philenews, statements are being taken today regarding where the vehicle was located and how many hours the child remained in the car.
Staff from the nursery, the baby’s family, and colleagues from the mother’s workplace are also being called to provide statements.
The police will also examine the car in which the child died. The investigation is being conducted by Nicosia CID.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem will be performed today at 3:30 pm by medical examiner Angeliki Papetta, which will determine the exact cause of the baby’s death.
The incident occurred yesterday when the mother and the child started their day and got into the car. The baby was supposed to be taken to the nursery before the mother went to her workplace, which is located close by.
After finishing work, she went to the nursery to collect her baby, and staff informed her that she had never brought the child in.
Only then did she realise the mistake and rushed to the car. There, she found the nine-month-old baby unconscious.
The child was transported unconscious by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where she was declared dead.
