Cyprus launches pilot for e-kalathi price tracking platform

Cyprus will roll out a pilot version of its e-kalathi platform on Monday, February 12, allowing consumers to track real-time prices of 478 essential household products, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry announced.

The initiative, implemented by the Consumer Protection Service (CPS), aims to enhance price transparency and help shoppers compare costs across 22 participating supermarkets.

During the 10-day trial period, actual prices will be integrated, and test users will assess the system for any technical issues before the full launch on March 4. The platform will be accessible via a website and mobile app.

“The consumer will no longer need to visit multiple supermarkets to compare prices. They can do it all from their phone or computer, saving both time and money,” CPS Director Konstantinos Karayiiorgis said.

Authorities plan to continuously upgrade the platform with new features and an expanded product range.
