Ayia Napa killers of four people, including Cypriot police officer and British citizen amongst most wanted in Europe

Just a few seconds of browsing can assist authorities in apprehending brutal killers across the European continent, some of which have evaded justice for a number of years, including two being sought for the killing of a British citizen in Cyprus eight years ago and the critical injury of a second man.

EU Most Wanted has updated its page ( http://eumostwanted.eu/ ) to include 24 killers and other serious crime offenders, with police in Cyprus urging the public to look through photos and read detailed profiles of criminals.

‘You can help us bring these people to justice, only a brief perusal is needed, perhaps you can recognise them and in doing so help save potential victims. These people have taken lives, let’s stop them’, authorities said.

The page is operated by the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST), with the support of Europol, seeking assistance in locating hundreds of wanted individuals across Europe.

Three people on the wanted list, Ahmet Sali, Mehmet Akpinap and Aleks Burreli are connected with open Cyprus cases.

Sali and Akpinap are wanted by Cypriot authorities for the premeditated killing of British citizen George Henry Low who suffered a fatal stab wound to the neck and the attempted murder of a second Briton Ben Barker, who suffered multiple stabbings across his torso and was critically injured. The crimes were perpetrated in the early hours of August 14th 2016 at Ayia Napa and the killers escaped Cyprus, now being sought at international level.

Earlier in the same year, June 16, just after ten in the evening, escaped convict Aleks Burreli and an accomplice entered a restaurant also in Ayia Napa and killed three people using pistols and automatic weapons.

The victims included a businessman, as well as a police officer and his wife, in front of their children. They also injured another officer and a bystander at the scene. During a shootout, Burreli’s accomplice was killed. Burreli, who fled in a car that he later torched, was an accomplice in several murders across Cyprus and part of the same criminal ring that organised the Ayia Napa killings.

An anonymous tip off through ENFAST, a European network of specialised police officer groups involved in locating wanted suspects or individuals convicted of serious crimes, will reach the network officers working around the clock.

Even the slightest of information morsels can actually make a difference. Out of 454 published profiles of wanted individuals, 164 have been arrested, 53 through information provided by citizens.

Police are advising the public not to approach wanted criminals if they recognise them, as they are considered dangerous. What you need to do is provide information through the webpage or contact the nearest police station.
