Police hunt two suspects over Limassol car bombing

Relevant News

Police in Limassol are pursuing specific leads in their investigation of a car bombing and arson attack that occurred last night at a residential garage in the Panioti area of Germasogeia.

Based on witness statements, two suspects have been identified and are now wanted by police. The motive appears to be linked to financial disputes involving a significant sum of money.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and various pieces of evidence collected from the scene.

The explosion occurred at 22:45 in the property’s eastern garage, igniting a fire that spread to three vehicles.

A car belonging to a 21-year-old man and one of two vintage cars owned by his father were completely destroyed, while a second vintage car sustained damage.

A fourth vehicle parked in the western garage escaped destruction despite the perpetrators’ attempt to burn it using a petrol bomb.

The deliberately set fire, which was extinguished by the fire service, caused extensive damage.

The 21-year-old’s car, valued at €30,000, and one vintage car worth €6,000 were completely destroyed. A third vehicle was damaged, though its value has not yet been assessed. None of the vehicles were insured.

Police immediately cordoned off the scene, with criminal investigators, rapid response units, bomb disposal experts, and crime scene investigators conducting examinations.

Preliminary findings indicate the attack was premeditated, with the attempt to destroy the fourth vehicle suggesting an organised plan.

Limassol’s criminal investigation department is seeking two individuals in connection with conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted destruction of property with explosives, and arson.
