An explosion followed by fire struck a residential garage in Limassol’s Panioti area of Germasogeia at 22:45 last night, destroying multiple vehicles including two vintage cars.
The fire engulfed a car belonging to a 21-year-old man and two vintage cars owned by his father, a pensioner, all of which were parked in the eastern garage of the property.
Police cordoned off the scene as investigators from multiple units responded, including Limassol’s criminal investigation department, bomb disposal experts, police forensics, and the fire service.
Preliminary investigations indicate the fire was deliberately set.
The perpetrators also attempted to target a fourth vehicle parked in the property’s western garage using a petrol bomb, though this attempt caused no damage.
The fire, which was extinguished by the fire service, completely destroyed a vehicle valued at €30,000 and one of the vintage cars worth €6,000.
A third vehicle sustained damage, though its value has not yet been determined. None of the vehicles were insured.
The scene remains under police guard, with investigations set to continue at daybreak.
