Bad weather hits Paphos as Met Office warns of intense storms

Relevant News

Severe weather reached Paphos shortly after 10 a.m., following warnings issued by the Meteorological Department.

Dense black clouds that had gradually covered the district since early morning brought periods of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

According to forecasts, weather conditions are expected to intensify in the coming hours.

Authorities have advised residents to limit non-essential travel and take necessary precautions to protect property where preventive measures have not yet been implemented.

While no incidents have been reported to police or fire services in the Paphos district so far, officials have not ruled out potential problems later in the day if the predicted intensity and duration of the weather system materialises.

Following significant damage caused by last Saturday’s severe weather in Paphos, local authorities, government services and private individuals have spent the past 24 hours clearing drains, open spaces and other areas vulnerable to extreme weather damage.
